December Book Club Meeting

We welcome you to join Notre Dame's Book Club for what promises to be an invigorating discussion of Bug Hollow, a brand new novel by Michelle Huneven. The novel spans several decades, and each chapter focuses on a different character. Ultimately, this is a story about how a family breaks apart and comes together again. It is a beautiful novel. It is also a quick and enjoyable read! Please join us for what promises to be a lively discussion on December 4th on Zoom at 6pm.

Bug Hollow by Michelle Huneven
The story opens in the 1970s with eight year old Sally Samuelson waving goodbye to her older brother Ellis who has just graduated high school and takes off on a road trip to the deserts of California with two of his friends. He is supposed to return one week later, but a week turns into ten days which turns into the whole summer. Ellis has found a place he loves, Bug Hollow, a fairy tale of a location in Northern California. Ellis's family travels to bring him home so that he can attend college. Ellis, though, winds up dying in a tragic accident. From there, the novel becomes an exploration of how each family member deals with their own personal grief.
