Anne de Xainctonge founded a school for girls in Dole, France in 1606. She desired to do for girls what the Jesuits were doing for boys: provide an exceptional academic education in the Catholic tradition. Anne wanted her students to be educated in the humanities, math and sciences, and to learn the fine arts as well as embroidery. In all things, Anne taught the girls to come to know and love Jesus.
Notre Dame School is based on the pedagogy of Anne de Xainctonge. Our values include the following: Prayer, Trust, Gratitude, Hope, Perseverance, Conversatio, Magis, Friendship, Courage and Service.
Each month the values are celebrated by the students engaging in various art projects, service projects and all-school assemblies. The students give service at several hospitals, nursing homes, non-profit organizations and elementary schools throughout the five boroughs and New Jersey.
Anne's Leaders, our ND peer leaders, help coordinate the monthly small group activities held in the school, ND Board members, and faculty contribute to the program's success.
